Travel Grants now open to attend World Parkinson’s Congress

Aug. 02, 2025

Applications for travel grants are now open to attend the 2026 World Parkinson’s Congress in Phoenix, USA.

The World Parkinson’s Congress is a unique opportunity for researchers, clinicians, people living with Parkinson’s, and healthcare professionals from across the globe to connect and share knowledge.

To help make attending the Congress in America more accessible, a select number of travel grants are available to subsidise the cost of attendance.

Grants are available for people in four categories: junior researchers, people living with Parkinson’s, non-physician clinicians, and health professionals from developing countries.

The Congress began accepting applications on 1 August and will continue to until 17 October, with successful applicants to be notified in December.

Grants for people living with Parkinson’s

If you are living with Parkinson’s, you may be eligible for travel grants of up to $1300USD plus paid registration.

The Congress is dedicated to awarding grants to individuals who are involved with their local Parkinson’s community and can commit to sharing what they learn with their community upon their return home.

Due to the high number of applicants, the grant process is highly competitive. All applications are subject to a panel review; it is anticipated 20 per cent of applications will be successful.

Grants will be awarded based on:

  • Quality of the application
  • Financial need based on distance travelled, current country, personal situation
  • Efforts to secure additional funding
  • Action plan for sharing knowledge gained at the Congress
  • Past receipt of travel support

Grant recipients must be able to pay for the remainder of their trip costs.

Grants for researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals

There is a large variety of grants available for researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals at different stages of their careers.

Most grants for professionals require the applicant to also have submitted an abstract for consideration.

Several grants are also available from external supporters of the Congress.

Some individuals may be eligible to apply for multiple grants and are encouraged to apply for each of them.

Applications for all travel grants close on 17 October, 2025 (Melbourne time), with decisions announced in mid-December. For full details about eligibility criteria, grant amounts, and how to apply, visit https://wpc2026.org/page/TravelGrants
