World Parkinson Congress calls for abstract submissions

Submissions for abstracts are now open for the 2026 World Parkinson’s Congress.

The congress is welcoming submissions in two categories, scientific and lived experience, providing a rare opportunity for researchers, clinicians, advocates and those living with Parkinson’s to share knowledge and learn together.

Scientific abstracts are welcomed across a range of basic and clinical sciences as well as clinical care.

Living with Parkinson’s abstracts are an opportunity for non-scientific topics to be explored, such as successful fundraising or awareness campaigns or advocacy for governmental policy change.

You do not need to be a scientist or researcher to submit a living with Parkinson’s abstract.

Successful living with Parkinson’s abstracts by Australians in the past includes Surely, you are too young (Sheenagh Bottrell, 2023) and A neurologist with PD: What I’ve learnt about being a patient and person with PD (David Blacker, 2023).

Non-scientific abstracts fall into one of the following categories: public education or awareness, government advocacy/public policy, living well with PD, and advancing research: collaborations, fundraising, trials, campaigns.

Successful abstract submissions will be invited to create a poster for display at 2026 World Parkinson Congress. Abstract authors must be available to attend the congress if successful in their application.

What should I include in my abstract?

Abstracts should be a written statement – no longer than 2500 characters – explaining the subject and contents of your proposed poster.

For a non-scientific abstract you should include an introduction, outline of goals, method of achieving goals, results, and conclusion.

Once you have written your abstract, it must be submitted to the World Parkinson Congress for review by Friday 17 October 2:59pm (AEDT). Applicants will be notified in December if their abstracts have been successful to allow plenty of time to prepare their poster for the congress.

For researchers and clinicians

Researchers and clinicians are invited to submit scientific abstracts for consideration. The Congress welcomes abstracts across three main categories, basic sciences, clinical sciences, and comprehensive care.
