Shona Cross
Sir Zelman Cowen Award
Shona first connected with Fight Parkinson’s following her diagnosis in 2015 and has since become a passionate advocate, leader, and ambassador. Through media engagement, awareness campaigns, and public speaking, she has helped increase understanding of Parkinson’s and inspire others living with the condition.
In 2023, Shona revitalised the Wimmera Parkinson’s Peer Support Group and led the return of the Wimmera A Walk in the Park, raising more than $5,000 since its return. She has also championed fundraising initiatives including 27forParkinson’s and featured as the 2024 Tax Appeal Hero, helping the appeal exceed its fundraising target.
Shona’s leadership, resilience, and generosity embody the spirit of this award.
Louise Zajac
Harold Waldron Carer’s Award
Louise and her husband Paul first connected with Fight Parkinson’s in 2008 following Paul’s diagnosis. From then on, Louise became a constant source of support for Paul and many others impacted by Parkinson’s.
As long-standing members and leaders of the Geelong Young at Park support group, Louise and Paul fostered connection, encouragement, and community. They regularly attended Fight Parkinson’s events and contributed significantly to fundraising efforts.
Following Paul’s passing in 2024, Louise has remained actively involved, attending A Walk in the Park in 2025 with her family in tribute to Paul’s legacy.
Louise’s ongoing commitment, leadership, and generosity embody the spirit of this award.
