Fact sheet – Driving with Parkinson’s

Driving represents freedom and independence for many people. But as Parkinson’s progresses, certain symptoms may begin to affect your ability to drive safely. This fact sheet outlines what you need to know about driving with Parkinson’s.

It includes information on:

  • Common driving challenges related to Parkinson’s
  • Legal requirements for notifying VicRoads or other authorities
  • Occupational therapy driving assessments
  • How medication timing can impact driving
  • Planning for changes in mobility

Not everyone with Parkinson’s will need to stop driving immediately. Many people continue to drive safely with adjustments or additional support. However, it’s important to regularly review your driving ability and be open to professional advice.
