Pesticides and Parkinson’s: An update with Dr Wes Thevathasan

Online Session via Teams
Session
18 Jun 2026 (Thu) 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Join us for an update on Pesticides and Parkinson's with Dr Wes Thevathasan

Recent media coverage and growing public discussion about paraquat have prompted many questions from people living with Parkinson’s, their families, carers, and health professionals.

At the same time, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is expected to release its decision on the current review of paraquat. While that decision remains pending, there have been important developments since the 2024 consultation process, including new research findings, international regulatory actions, and legal proceedings overseas.

To help our community stay informed, Fight Parkinson’s is hosting a special online session providing an update on the latest evidence and developments.

Hosted by Dr Wes Thevathasan, this session will explore:

  • The evidence regarding pesticides and Parkinson’s
  • New research findings and developments since the 2024 consultation
  • International regulatory reviews and actions
  • Legal developments and emerging issues overseas
  • What happens next as we await the Australian regulatory decision

Please note that this session will address pre-submitted questions only. Questions asked during the live session will not be answered. Once registered, you will receive a link to submit your questions in advance.

We encourage anyone interested in this important topic to join us.
